I stayed at my friend Lulus house the night before we left for Barcelona since we had to take the train to the airport at around 3am and she lives close to the train station. When I got to her town we explored a bit and then we went out to dinner. The dinner was only mediocre but it was not a big deal. Then she got an ice cream and we headed back to the house. We were gunna sleep but we started watching a movie. We kept saying it was time to sleep and that we only had this much time to sleep left but then we would start talking. We finally fell asleep about 30 minutes or so before we had to leave so that didn’t help much at all. We rested on the train which left at around 2. When we got to Aarhus everything was closed and so we waited in the station for like an hour to figure everything out. Everyone said that the airport was small but we still wanted to get there within a reasonable time for security. When we got there the airport was no bigger than a train station it was so small. We got there like 5 hours early just because of the train and stuff and ended up having to just sit in the lobby because we were not allowed to check our bags until 1.5 hrs before our flight left. We ate salsa and chips for breakfast which was oddly refreshing . Finally Alandra, Alicia, and Emily got to the station we went through security and got ready to embark on an epic adventure. The whole flight we were laughing and making vlogs. When we landed we got our bags and headed off to the bus. The bus ride into the city was around an hour. We figured out the subway system quickly and got to our hostel. After checking in all I could think about was seeing my sister. I thought she was going to be waiting for me at the hostel and while staring out the window waiting for her I started crying. People say that absence makes the heart grow fonder and never had that been more true for me than at that moment. I hadn’t really realized how much I truly love and miss her until that point. I figured out she actually wasn’t coming for a few hours so since we were starving the 5 of us got a quick dinner. I got ready and then finally my sister came. As soon as I saw her I ran down the hostel steps screaming her name and swung her around in a pick up hug. I introduced her to everyone and we sat and talked for around 45 minutes. After we went back to her apartment to get ready for dinner. We went to an Italian place which was amazing. The dinner started at 9:30 or so and didn’t end till around 12. It just showed how laid back Spaniards are. After I went back to the hostel. I tried to sleep and rested for a bit but then the roommates got back and I couldn’t sleep. We ended up talking and getting to know each other well. Alicia and I ended up stepping outside of the hostel and went across the sleep to just talk and try to calm ourselves in order to better sleep. When we got back we slept quite well and woke up at 8 to start our first full day in Spain.
On the Monday after my break instead of going to school I had to go to the doctor. My mouth and eye had been hurting me, but since I am me I just figured I would ignore it and it would go away. However, after speaking to my dad and mom back home they said I should get it checked out just in case. It turned out to be a good thing that I went to the doctor because I had a bacterial sinus infection. The doctor told me that one time when I had a cold my body didn’t react to it well and that was why I was experiencing the infection. He gave me pills and I went home for the rest of the day. I was slightly annoyed by the fact that I was unable to go to school because it was the best day for me to give out my surprise until Friday. It was good though that I had more time because I got to work further on making slight changes to the boats and improving little things about them. I was able to finally give my class the boats on Friday. I was so happy to get them out of my room because they looked so messy and also I just wanted to finally give them to my class. I brought them to school which wasn’t that hard since my sister drove me to school. I had two classes that day in a row both of which were with my entire class. The whole class was there that day which was good for me because it meant that I could pass out all of the boats. During the break I set up the beer bottles in the hole of the boats and then got out the chocolate cakes that I had made for my class as well. After the break was over at the start of my history class the teacher let me go up and explain to the class a little about how Valentines day is celebrated in the USA and why I made the boats. I explained to them how when I was in elementary school we used to make crafts such as these or mailboxes that your classmates would stuff with cards and candy. It is one of my favorite memories from elementary school and I am so sad that they are no longer allowed to do stuff like that due to religious restrictions. Some of my classmates even took pictures of the boats and posted them on facebook which made me really happy and feel like all of the work I put into them was worth it.
On that Saturday my exchange student friend Alicia came over. She was super tied though since she hadn’t slept and so we didn’t really do much but hang out and watch movies. She is also another one of my close friends and we can talk about so much together. She is really hard to describe but she is one of those people who you meet and can be instantly friends with. No matter how long we go without seeing each other or talking we are always able to pick right back up again. I get to see her again next weekend which will be great since I am going to another exchange students Nina’s birthday party. I am super excited for that as well mainly because I will get to see many of my close friends.
Quite a lot has happened since I did my last written blog update. I have so many blogs that I just never wrote and I know that eventually I am going to regret that laziness but I am going to try to be much better and more frequent now about updating. I wont go back right now and write those but maybe I will find the time later to write what I can remember of them. So I guess I will start my updates with my family move. We had the week of February 26th off of school and during the first weekend of it I moved into my third and final host family. Packing for me was a bit of a nuisance since I absolutely hate to do it. I allotted myself the day before I moved to pack however I stalled and avoided it throughout the entire day. I did start to pack that day although I only got as far as packing all of my clothing. I was going to stay up all night and do it but then I got tired so I decided I would just do it in the morning. Luckily I was able to finish all of my packing and still have 2 hours left to clean and eat. Somehow, although it baffles me as to how, the amount of stuff that I had I think about doubled from the time I got here until now. I have no idea how on earth I am going to be able to get all of that stuff back and I also know that I will have to have a major spring cleaning/ decision making day where I figure out what of my stuff is important enough to me to bring home. That is not something I am looking foreword to at all. I somehow though was able to unpack my stuff within a few hours which was nice to just get out of the way. I also got a package from back home when I arrived which was nice. It was just some Mexican stuff I had ordered but still I was super happy it finally came. The beginning of my break was pretty uneventful I spent most of the time just relaxing and getting to know the house and how everything works. I also worked on completing portions of my online classes. On Thursday however one of my favorite exchange people in the world, Lulu, came over to hang out for a few days and help me work on the crafts I was making for my class. In Denmark Valentines day is not widely celebrated so I wanted to do something extra special for my class. I found this idea online to make “love” boats using paper and milk cartons. I spent several weeks before saving up the milk cartons that my families drank in order to have enough for my entire class. The project seemed simple enough however upon starting I realized how much work really went into making them. It took us days literally to make this boats. I needed 21 of them and each one I would say took an average of an 1hr and 20 minutes. Before we got the hang of creating them, when we were still just trying to figure out the best way to make them, it took hours. For the most part I did the job of coloring while Lulu got to do the fun job of decorating them. She is super creative and together we made awesome boats. No two boats were exactly the same which I loved. They were decorated with hearts, flowers, colored tape, Viking helmets, sailboats, and beer mugs. Lulu spent a lot of time to cut out and draw on the individual decorations. Inside the boats I put chocolates, these taffy like candies and the cheapest bottle of beer in Denmark. The beer made the boats look super cute and in Denmark its ok to bring alcohol to school you just cant drink it at school, except during the parties. In the end it was worth it because I think my class really appreciated it and liked them however I highly doubt that I will ever make them again because it is way to much work. It was so much fun to hang out with Lulu also because we have the same humor and just get along together really well. The whole time we just laughed and made the making of the boats as much fun as possible. During a break from the crafts my sister drove us into Bogense so I could show her my city. I took her to the harbor and afterwards we got lunch at this darling little Italian café. I am going to miss being able to see her and hang out with her so much when I go back home. But one thing I know for sure is that I am going to do everything in my power to keep in touch with her. I know its hard what with distance and schedules but she is not a person that I want to lose from my life. After she left on Saturday my family and I went to a double family birthday party. Their whole family is nothing but nice and welcoming. They have two little cousins that were there one is around 3 or 4 I would say and the other was younger than one. As you can probably guess I spent a lot of time hanging out with them since I love kids. There was also a 5 month old baby girl there who was so cute. It is always a little awkward going to large family events when you don’t know anybody but I try to make the best of it and make them as fun as possible. Other than that I did not do much else on my break.

Cooking dinner for the last time
First Video blog Danny visit/ Weekend Update 2/9-2-12
I went to Skive for one of my good exchange student friends birthdays. Her birthday is (around) thanksgiving which also happens to be her favorite holiday; Because of this she had a big Thanksgiving meal. My exchange student friend Alicia and I hung out the night before. We went into Odense and met lots of interesting people. We went shopping a bit and then just hung out there. We had put her stuff into a locker inside the train station so we didn’t have to carry it but by the time we were heading home the station was closed for the night so we were unable to get her stuff which was bad. We went home and then slept. When we got up in the morning we were tired and didn’t really feel like going to the birthday party but we went anyway. The train ride was really long around 4 or so hours so we were happy when we finally got there. Danny and Eddie picked us up at the station and then we went to Aedins house. There were tons of her friends there already and she was still cooking. I helped and made the mash potatoes which are easy enough. We sat down ate dinner and then talked. After dinner Aedin opened up all of her presents and then we started playing games and hanging out. We talked and caught up. The danes at the party taught us some Danish games and we just had a lot of fun. It was a really quiet chill night and so much more worth coming than I had thought it would be. We all went to bed some upstairs and some downstairs. My friend Eddie and I stayed up late after people had gone to where they were sleeping and talked. The next morning most people left but most of Aedins close exchange student friends were still there. The groups that was left is the perfect exchange student group. It was almost all of my closest exchange students friends and we all get along together really well. We hung out and talked all morning. We munched on leftovers from the night before and then cleaned. A large group of us tried running to the train but the wind was so strong that we could barely move in it. I had my huge suitcase with me and was therefore unable to keep up with everyone. It was so sweet because when I did finally get there one of my exchange student friends Hunter missed the train to wait for me so that I didn’t have to ride alone. While waiting for the next train she did my make-up. We talked and just laughed the whole train ride back to Aarhus. I don’t think that I have laughed that much in a long time. In Aarhus we walked around the mall a bit and got Sandwiches. We got on our separate trains and headed home after what will be a weekend that I wont soon forget:)
